Ludivine Morbois, Project & Procurement Manager, has joined Ahlers to lead the company’s North American operations. Based in the US, she will play a key role in supporting Ahlers’ growing portfolio of American customers and strengthening its expertise in complex global project logistics. We sat down with her to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the US and Canadian markets, and what Ahlers brings with its “boots on the ground.”

Ahlers is expanding its warehousing network with two new facilities in Almaty and Ho Chi Minh City — strengthening our foothold in Central Asia and Southeast Asia. These new logistics hubs are designed to support customers in fast-growing, complex markets with flexible, reliable, and innovative warehousing solutions.

Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (the DACH region) are strategic markets for heavy industry and project logistics. To be closer to customers and tap into new opportunities, Ahlers has established a new branch in Hamburg. We spoke with Julian Kurz, Business Development Manager Western Europe, about the market and Ahlers’ plans to strengthen partnerships across the region.

This case highlights a long-time journey to transport massive steel plant equipment from Gijón, Spain, to Dunkirk, France. With the actual planning starting in February 2023, the project took more than 1,5 years and faced complex challenges that required custom-engineered solutions, including transport frames and overcoming tide restrictions.

The global drive for decarbonization is transforming industries such as metallurgy and mining. In a recent discussion with Project Cargo Journal, we explored how freight forwarders are crucial in supporting this transition.

As part of their plant transformation project, Thyssenkrupp Steel contracted Danieli to develop and implement a digital system for slab storage and management in Germany. Ahlers Logistics was brought into the project to transport 8,000 freight tons of crane parts and accessories.
