The war in Ukraine has rewritten the rules of project cargo logistics, demanding a level of adaptability and on-the-ground expertise rarely seen. From navigating damaged infrastructure and securing dual-use certifications to circumventing insurance black holes and collaborating with military personnel, Ahlers Logistics is pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

When a leading European industrial machinery manufacturer aimed to further expand in Kazakhstan, they sought a new 3PL provider to enhance efficiency. Established in Karaganda, they needed a reliable partner to streamline operations. In just six months, we helped secure a new facility despite local market challenges, set up warehouse infrastructure from scratch, and ensured seamless operations — so they could focus on what they do best: powering industries.

This case highlights a long-time journey to transport massive steel plant equipment from Gijón, Spain, to Dunkirk, France. With the actual planning starting in February 2023, the project took more than 1,5 years and faced complex challenges that required custom-engineered solutions, including transport frames and overcoming tide restrictions. The final stage involved tight deadlines, navigating rail crossings, and maneuvering under plant’s pipe racks.
