Handling Complex TIP-Frames for Sea Transport: A Logistics Challenge

Challenge

The shipment consisted of 60 TIP-frames, totaling 147.9 tons across 10 containers, which needed to be loaded in Goleniow, Poland, for delivery to Tianjin, China. The frames arrived without packaging and featured a complex configuration, requiring special equipment for loading into sea containers.

As the shipper lacked the necessary loading equipment, we sought a reliable handling terminal capable of meeting the specific requirements. With each frame measuring 3.57 x 1.46 x 2.53 meters, the challenge was to load six frames per container. After researching vendors in Poland, we identified a Stevedoring terminal in Gdansk, located 348 km from the loading site, as the only facility able to meet the customer's requirements for this complex operation.

Routing

Goleniow, Poland – Gdansk  Terminal (restuffing) – Gdynia Port – Tianjin, China

The shipper had no special equipment to load the frames into a container at his premises, we helped to identify a handling terminal to handle the loading into a container. The first port of choice was Szczecin, 20 km away from the loading place, but with no equipment available to load them into a container, we used the Stevedoring terminal in Gdansk (348 km away).

Lashing and securing cargo

  • To fit 6 units (3 sets) of TIP Frames we needed to dismantle some small parts
  • We needed to secure all parts in a container
  • Full inspection of lashing and securing of cargo was made.

Dispatch to the port of Tianjin, China

  • After secure stuffing of the container at the warehouse, they are delivered to the port of  Gdynia.
