Staying sure, even offshore

Specialized consultancy and support for FPSO projects

Maritime Services
Offshore support

Ensuring the safe movement of personnel, equipment and resources at sea while en route is never easy. The logistics support during the journey of enormous offshore units requires proven approaches.

When locations are difficult to reach, spare parts, victuals, waste and resources are hard to move, and operations are challenging to secure – you know you need a specialist partner.

Project management at sea

Ahlers provides both the logistics and project consultancy for Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facilities and MODU's (Mobile Offshore Drilling Units) from the shipyard to their final location in some of the roughest seas in the world, helping clients to get up and running quickly and safely.

Worldwide experience and local presence

Our international teams help projects run smoothly due to their local presence and knowledge. Whether in planning and budgeting stages, or for emergencies, having people on the ground certainly helps.

Ahlers has been in the maritime business for more than a century. The diversity of our company and our specialist knowledge means that we can rely on our own teams and departments. We ensure that information exchange is open and easy, and we trust both our personnel and professional contractors to deliver. Time and time again, they prove that they can.

Planning is the key to any successful maritime project

Weather analyses, route plans, vessel chartering, crew requirements, medevac investigations, resource distribution, and contingency development; these all need to be dealt with in advance. We coordinate every step of the process; our reputation, just like yours, relies on the project being successful. We inform clients about our progress on a regular basis, by the same project manager, throughout the project.

Stien Goffin, Project Coordinator of Maritime Services: “Time is everything in our business. And planning is what makes you the master of timing. For every plan A, we make sure we develop at least a dozen plan B’s. It is in our nature (we are ‘maritime people’ after all) to anticipate potential risks before they become problems.”

Collaboration in operation

We pride ourselves on protecting the interests of our clients and contractors during projects. Our flexible working practices give us the freedom to choose from the best solutions and companies available for any region or specialty.

We have also developed an optimized collaboration concept with our customers through over 15 years of FPSO towing projects for major players in the oil & gas industry. This enables us to ensure quick and efficient emergency responses in all sorts of situations.

Stien Goffin: “Experience has taught us that any number of things can go wrong during an operation of this magnitude. Sudden changes in weather conditions, equipment break downs, medical emergencies, epidemics, civil unrest or even armed conflicts at scheduled crew change points ... So how do we guarantee the best possible service? Quite simply by planning for the worst.”

No job too big, no sea too wild

We take pride in successfully completing the most complicated oil and gas FPSO projects. Established, field-tested processes and a specialist international team give us the ideal platform for difficult challenges.

And as the industry looks to the future, here at Ahlers we are excited to help in developing the next generation of FPSO projects.
