Ahlers wins award for sustainable management /17 Nov 2011/

It takes more than to focus on economic interests to make companies successful. Corporate Social Responsibility means companies should also take care of the environment in which they live: not only profit but also people and planet oriented.

Trends, the leading Belgian economic & financial magazine together with Flanders Investment & Trade and Business & Society (a business network for Corporate Social Responsibility) awarded Ahlers for its efforts with regard to ‘Sustainability’ during a ceremony held in Antwerp on November 16.

The jury motivated their choice of Ahlers based on our 100-year track record, paying attention to sustainable service and customer relations, open-mindedness towards other cultures and the importance of personal and career development. The 100 Y Opportunity Tour, giving Ahlers staff the possibility to travel and to meet each other was cited as example. The open communication on community issues in Antwerp and the fact that Ahlers employs more than 10 different nationalities were highlighted.

During the ceremony on November 16 in Antwerp, the award was accepted by Mrs Brigitte Leysen who is a board member of Ahlers NV. She was in good company with Capt. Bultynck, General Manager Maritime Services and Jan De Windt, General Manager Western Europe.

Trends also interviewed Christian Leysen, you can download the article here.
