Shipment of Smurf is on its way to Shanghai /15 Mar 2010/

Recently, a statue of the official Belgian mascot, the Smurf, left Belgium to travel to the World Expo in Shanghai.

Ahlers Forwarding handles the transport of construction materials, exhibition materials and commercial goods from Belgium to the World Expo in Shanghai. Recently decoration goods for the Belgian pavilion have left the country and will soon embellish the pavilion’s interior such as architecture models (of the University of Ghent) and a statue of the official Belgian mascot, the Smurf. Other materials for the scenography that will be used during the Expo’s Opening Ceremony are to follow soon. Ahlers has also been sending pallets of chocolates to the Belgian pavilion. Being a logistic provider, Ahlers is facilitating the trade by taking care of the door to door transport including customs clearance and the handling of all administrative procedures required by the Chinese authorities.

Next to shipments for the Belgian, EU and UAE pavilions, Ahlers Forwarding secures a project of shipping stage properties needed for the Expo’s opening ceremony. The goods will be sent from Belgium to Shanghai by air during the month of March. It involves some 35,000 kos of material and is split over 3 flights. Upon arrival in Shanghai, Ahlers China will take care of the coordination with the receiver and the organizer so as to ensure a smooth and timely delivery. After the opening ceremony, these goods will return to Belgium which will also be arranged by Ahlers. 

Ahlers Forwarding has been nominated by the Belgian authorities as preferred partner for door-to-door transport from Belgium to the Expo.
