Saga Forest Carriers - a joint initiative of NYK and Leif Hoegh - are specialised in the transport of forest products and breakbulk cargo. Saga introduces a new generation of specialised vessels, the first of which, the Saga Adventure, visited Antwerp during her maidentrip. The next 8 vessels are expected to be delivered between april 06 and 2008.
As before the Saga-vessels are boxed-shaped and open-hatched, 47.000 dwt, 200 m long and 32 m wide, with a draft of 12,8 m m. After delivery of the 9 vessels, Saga will have the youngest fleet in the sector.
Nowadays Saga discharges a wide variety of bulk cargoes (woodpallets, natrium) and loads forest products. The route goes from Europe to EC North America, to Brazil, to the Far East, to the WC of North America, then back to Europe.
The call during the maidentrip was of course an ideal opportunity for Ahlers to organize a party on board of the mv Saga Adventure for the Saga-customers on January 23rd.
