ITMMAPS: Maritime and Port Symposium /09 Jan 2002/

The maritime and port industry in transition: solutions beyond economies of scale and scope.

From April 18th till April 20th 2002, ITMMA, the Institute of Transport and Maritime Management Antwerp, organises "ITMMAPS", a trend-setting top-executive maritime and port symposium at the Antwerp Elzenveld Congress Centre.

Theme setting

The maritime and port industry is going through substantial changes. The winners of the 21st century will be those companies that really understand the changes in their environment and offer their customers "best-in-class" performance.

The ITMMA Maritime and Port Symposium will focus on:

  • Drivers for and limits to economies of scale and scope
  • The impact of major port developments, such as dedicated terminals, on supply and demand chain management and vice versa
  • The distribution of costs and benefits related to port operations and logistic changes
  • The challenges facing port authorities and service suppliers in seaports
  • The issue of port accessibility (both physical and organisational)
  • The borderless port community
  • E-market opportunities for ports
  • Networking among market players

ITMMAPS will point out these structural changes and their consequences on the maritime and port industry and wants to offer top-level executives, policymakers, and academics working in transport, maritime industry and logistics an international forum for exchanging know-how and discussing the latest trends in the industry.

A selected set of high-level international speakers will introduce the various subjects and animate the discussions in breakout groups. For the latest contributors listing, the full programme outline and registration procedures, please visit the ITMMAPS website.
