MISC and OOCL announce new European Joint Service /21 Aug 2001/

On behalf of our principals, MISC (Malaysia International Shipping Corporation), we have the pleasure to inform you that MISC announced a cooperation with OOCL to introduce a new Joint Venture between ports in Europe.

In this new service, which is to be known as Iberia Scan Express service (ISX), MISC will provide 2 vessels of 736 TEU each, whilst OOCL will contribute 1 vessel with carrying capacity of 600 TEU.

As part of the cooperation, MISC and OOCL will exchange slots on the 3 vessels. The ISX will commence its first nothbound sailing from Lisbon on 2nd September 2001. Subsequently, the first Southbound sailing is expected to depart Gdansk on 5th September 2001.

MISC's vessels Bunga Mas 9, Bunga Mas 10 together with OOCL's vessel OOCL Narva will offer a fixed-day weekly sailing between various ports in Europe. Rotation is: Gdansk, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Southampton, Le Verdon (Bordeaux), Bilbao, Leixoes, Oporto, Lisbon, Bilbao, Le Verdon, Southampton, Antwerp, Hamburg, Gdansk.

Under the terms of the cooperation, MISC will also have slots on OOCL's existing Scan Baltix Express Service (SBX).
This service has deployed 2 vessels of 860 TEU each with the following rotation: Antwerp, Thamesport, Hamburg, Gdansk, Hamina, St Petersburg, Riga, Hamburg, Antwerp.

The key-advantages are weekly, fixed-day sailings and a dedicated MISC service with improved reliability and transittimes with connections syunchronized to/from MISC's Far East and Indian Subcontinent containerservices.

These new MISC opportunities are also open for inter-European cargoes to/from Antwerp. We remain at your disposal to assit you with all your requests on tariffs, services and trace.
