Ahlers was the nominated partner for the transport and forwarding of the necessary construction and interior design materials as well as the consumption goods for the Belgian and European pavilion during Shanghai Expo 2010.
We’re constantly in contact with all partners, offering full services such as information on the strict regulations, offers for container transport and support with the documents. Ahlers negotiates with both the Belgian government and the European Union, who will also be hosted in the Belgian pavilion. The pavilion was designed by Belgian architect Christine Conix and will host Ahlers’ management, partners and customers during the international agencies and international forwarding meeting in May 2010.

For goods entering Shanghai with tax exemption, Ahlers arranges the transport from pick up in Belgium until delivery in the port of Shanghai. Ahlers also succeeded in expanding its service level towards the Belgian participants for the goods that will be sold during the expo in the different shops (chocolates, biscuits, crystal, etc). For these goods Ahlers is allowed to arrange transport until the “red” zone as well as store these goods in our own warehouse.
The first containers with decoration goods have arrived in Shanghai in the meantime. Next containers are expected to be shipped by mid January. Ahlers is also planning a meeting with some 30 smaller companies and universities to discuss the offered groupage possibilities and the related documentation flow.

Recently a new and more elaborate contract was signed with the Flemish Government enabling Ahlers to render more specified services as far as documentation, import and follow-up of goods is concerned. Ahlers will service the Belgian pavilion organization on site, both in Belgium and in China.
