Ahlers Logistic Center appointed logistic partner of Komatsu Forest /20 Mar 2008/

Komatsu Forest (Valmet) has selected Ahlers St. Petersburg as its logistic partner. The contract includes the total flow of goods of Komatsu, meaning import, warehousing, order processing and distribution. ALC, Ahlers Logistic Center in St. Petersburg will act as national distribution centre for the spare parts (4,000 items) of Komatsu Forest.

With 450 machines running on the Russian territory Komatsu Forest is the second largest player in Russia. On the premises of Ahlers they installed a simulator to train the people on-site. Ahlers Logistic Center covers a surface of 25,000 m2. The start of the next extension with 17,000 m² (37,000 pallet places) is foreseen for spring this year.

ALC is strategically located, near the new ring road and the close to the airport. A complete terminal infrastructure is present, with transhipment possibilities of and to several transport modalities. Besides warehousing and order processing, additional services are provided, as well as the organisation of the complete distribution process.

Major customers of Ahlers in Russia are large international companies to which overall logistic solutions are offered, with among others multimode transports, customs formalities, warehousing and distribution.

Ahlers St. Petersburg was the first independent office in the former Soviet - Union and was opened in 1992. Today St Petersburg is the largest Ahlers office in the CIS and employs 200 staff.

Ahlers operates warehouses in Belgium (Ghent), Ukraine (Kharkiv and Dnepropetrovsk), China (Shanghai) and Indonesia (Semarang) and employs worldwide 1,000 people in 15 countries in Asia, the CIS and Europe.
