Elementis signed 5 year contract with Ahlers Belgium; a true partnership for the European distribution of Elementis' packed products /29 Apr 2008/

Elementis is a specialty chemicals company comprising two separate businesses. Both - Specialties and Chromium - hold leading market positions in their chosen sectors. Next to rheological additives Elementis Specialties also manufactures a full range of pigment dispersions, high performance dispersing agents, waxes, defoamers, interfacial tension modifiers, epoxy and polyurethane electrical potting and encapsulation compounds, structural adhesives, elastomers, UV/EB-curable coatings, adhesive intermediates and other specialty additives. Elementis employs more than 1,200 people at over 25 sites in Europe, North America and China.

For years now Elementis Specialties has chosen Ahlers’ European Distribution Centre (EDC) as a platform for the distribution of their packed products throughout Europe. The present agreement is a confirmation of the outstanding performance achieved by both companies.

The EDC in Evergem near Ghent (Belgium) offers a state of the art facility for the handling, storage and distribution of packed non hazardous and hazardous chemicals. It has a storage capacity of over 24.500m² and has SEVESO high limit, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. The EDC’s service package also includes value adding activities, intermodal European distribution, global forwarding, customs and all activity related administrative services. The location of the warehouse – within reach of all transport modes - makes it easily accessible and ensures an ideal central position for distribution.

Elementis’ vice president Daniel Hughes cites always being impressed by Ahlers’ EDC warehouse and by the overall quality of the operations and staff. “It was a major part of our decision … we are really pleased we have finally executed our long term supply agreement.  We still have more to offer each other globally and we are looking together for future possibilities with Ahlers on other continents”.

Ahlers has own warehouses in Belgium (Ghent), Russia (St Petersburg), Ukraine (Kharkiv and Dnepropetrovsk) and operates warehouses in China (Shanghai) and Indonesia (Semarang).
